LIFE AFTER THE SOUTH-WEST REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT AGENCY
17 August 2010
You will be well aware of the "brave new world" of coalition Government that touches each and every one of us in business in some way.
With the impending demise of the South West Regional Development Agency (SWRDA) and Government's wish to introduce Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) the business community have been given the responsibility for working with, in our case, Somerset County Council, in considering how we provide strong economic leadership in Somerset and beyond.
The Somerset Chamber is delighted to invite you and your colleagues from business and local government to a briefing session and debate on where Somerset should position itself to make sure we are aligned to a LEP that is right for the economy, businesses and residents of Somerset.
We are told by Government that LEPs should be made up of more than one upper tier council area (County or Unitary) and/or functional economic areas, but what does this mean for us here in Somerset?
Time: Tuesday 17th August at 4pm to conclude with a light buffet at 6pm
Venue: The Huntworth Suite, Junction 24, Bridgwater
Speakers: Speakers will include
• Sally Edgington - Government Office for the South West,
• Cllr David Hall - Somerset County Council
• Rupert Cox - Somerset Chamber of Commerce
