We'd all like to do our bit for the planet wouldn't we? I know I am not as good as I could be (I drive a guzzler and go abroad for my holidays) but I do want to help the environment where I can and without too much of an impact on my lifestyle please. Certainly nobody likes pollution and as businesspeople we know waste costs money, so I am all signed up for being "eco friendly", but I don't have a clue what I can do to reduce my "carbon footprint", more than I do now which is recycling switching lights off and other sensible obvious things. Also I don't know how much it will cost to go green, so I have just done nothing.... Then I attended a Yeovil Chamber meeting with Envirowise.

They made a statement that, "it didn't necessarily need to cost a lot to go green and often actually you saved money". They offered an audit. I took them up on it.

Now I can see that if we were a heavy user of energy that statement could be easier to achieve. But we are an Insurance Brokerage, administrators, and as we were already recycling and being "sensible" what could we do? So the gentleman from Envirowise came out to visit us followed by a report that made easy reading and opened my eyes.3 months later and only implementing the immediate "easy advice" we are saving 15% on our energy alone. Eco friendliness has swept throughout the business and even started to rear it's head at home! Over the next couple of months I will give reports on the changes we have made the reduction in CF and the impact on the business. Both in Eco terms and in our costs.  Having Green credentials is giving Livingstones marketing benefit too! We are actually currying favour and picking up business because we are endeavouring to be Green! More news in next Chamber page!
