Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) (Requalification)

This Regulated Qualification is ideal for anyone wishing to become a first aider in the workplace. It provides learners with the skills and knowledge to deal with first aid situations in higher risk workplaces or workplaces with an increased number of employees. Produced in aid of the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations (NI) 1982 purposes.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider
Be able to assess an incident
Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally
Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally
Be able to recognise and assist a casualty who is choking
Be able to manage a casualty with external bleeding
Be able to manage a casualty who is in shock
Be able to manage a casualty with a minor injury
Be able to conduct a secondary survey
Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with injuries to bones, muscles and joints
Be able to administer First Aid to a casualty with suspected head and spinal injuries
Be able to administer First Aid to a casualty with suspected chest injuries
Be able to administer First Aid to a casualty with burns and scalds
Be able to administer First Aid to a casualty with a eye injury
Be able to administer First Aid to a casualty with sudden poisoning
Be able to administer First Aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis
Be able to provide First Aid to a casualty with suspected major illness

ASSESSMENT
As we offer QNUK regulated qualifications, learners will need to demonstrate the skills and knowledge that they have learnt. In order for a certificate to be issued candidates will have to complete a 40 question multiple choice exam and will be asked by the trainer to demonstrate practical elements of the course. The trainer is able to assist those who may have difficulties in completing the assessment criteria, we ask you advise us prior to the course start so we may make provisions if required.

CERTIFICATE
On completion of the course, learners will receive a Ofqual regulated qualification of which is valid for three years. After this period candidates will need to resit the course again, unlike the three day First Aid at Work there is no re-qualification course for one day Emergency First Aid. The HSE recommend Annual Skills Updates of which we can provide either as an open course, as an in-house or as an online course.

PREREQUSITES

Learners will need to have a current and valid First Aid at Work certificate. This must have been undertaken with one of the main charitable bodies or with a centre offering OfQual regulated certification. If you are unsure please ask.
