QNUK Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF)

2 day Course - consecutive Thursdays

Our Paediatric First Aid course is designed to suit all employees who work within a childcare setting. The training is ideal for lower risk businesses, but nevertheless, we can adapt the course to suit the needs of any organisation if required. Delegates will gain an understanding of different incidents and injuries so that they are able to treat unconscious patients efficiently and effectively.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
There are seven learner outcomes with this course and candidates will be taught the following areas of first aid in children and babies:

Roles and Responsibilities
Assessing Incidents
Unresponsive Casualty – CPR, Recovery Positions and Defibrillators (AED)
Choking Casualty
External Bleeding
How to deal with shock
Minor Injuries – including grazes, cuts, bruises, splinters and burns
Epilepsy and Seizures
Bone and muscle injuries
Head, neck and spinal injuries
Common major child related illnesses

ASSESSMENT
As we offer QNUK regulated qualifications, learners will need to demonstrate the skills and knowledge that they have learnt. In order for a certificate to be issued candidates will have to complete a 40 question multiple choice exam and will be asked by the trainer to demonstrate practical elements of the course. The trainer is able to assist those who may have difficulties in completing the assessment criteria, we ask you advise us prior to the course start so we may make provisions if required.

CERTIFICATE
On completion of the course, learners will receive a Ofqual regulated qualification of which is valid for three years. After this period candidates will need to resit the course again, unlike the three day First Aid at Work there is no re-qualification course for this course. The HSE recommend Annual Skills Updates of which we can provide either as an open course, as an in-house or as an online course.
