Training workshop - Engaging with Education
Develop your talent pipeline by gaining an insight into how schools and colleges operate. By understanding their key drivers and constraints you can plan how to engage with education and gain the knowledge on how to begin your journey into forging a stronger workforce moving forward. In doing so you meet social value commitments and the young people get to see the great opportunities on offer and ready themselves with the relevant skills for the workplace.
Somerset Education Business Partnership connects businesses with education providers to help develop and nourish future talent. By bridging this gap, it not only benefits employers but also the young people get to see the future careers they might engage with. They support businesses of all sizes to create education outreach plans to meet their needs and capacity.
This workshop is hosted delivered by Andrew Hanson of Somerset Education Business Partnership and Clare Lewis of Bridgwater and Taunton College.
Andrew leads Somerset Education Business Partnership, connecting businesses with schools and colleges so that young people are aware of local career opportunities and prepared for the workplace.
Andrew is passionate about showcasing Somerset’s diverse employers and helping them to find practical ways to connect with their future workforce.
Clare is the Careers Lead of Bridgwater and Taunton College Trust. Careers education is a statutory requirement for schools for pupils from Year 7 (age 11) and above and it is Clare's job to oversee the careers provision at the secondary schools with the trust. Clare strives to ensure the deliver of high-quality career activities which provide ample opportunities for young people to connect with local employers and build their employability skills.
